Here's a short video about the game show Beat Shazam...
Game Play
Before the start of each song, a dollar amount is revealed, as is the song category. During the first game round, the song categories range from Golden Hits and Dance Craze to Breakout Hits and Cover Songs.
When a song begins to play, you and your partner will have four song choices from which to choose. You simply lock in your secret choice, and the team that determines the correct song title within the shortest amount of time wins the money for that round. So, when multiple teams all pick the right answer, the winner comes down to which team locked in the answer first. You have to be quick if you want to win this game!
Each Beat Shazam category features a set amount of songs, but the last song in each category is the “Fast Track” song, which has double the money value. Once a specific number of songs and rounds have passed, the team with the lowest amount of money on the board is eliminated, leaving just two teams to battle for the chance to Beat Shazam.
After the teams finish the final category, the one with the most money wins the game and moves on to the final round, where they can face off against Shazam and walk out with $1,000,000. The team that ends in second place leaves with half the cash they earned in the game.
Category Values
If you’re lucky enough to be chosen as a contestant, here are the values associated with each round of the game:
1. Random Categories - $1,000 to $2,000 (Fast Track $2,000)
2. That’s My Jam - $2,000 to $4,000 (Fast Track $4,000)
3. Corinne’s Choice - $4,000 to $8,000 (Fast Track $8,000)
4. Without Words - $8,000 to $16,000 (Fast Track $16,000)
Final Round - Beat Shazam
If you’re on the winning team, you’ll advance to the final round, where you’ll have to identify six more songs before Shazam does to win more money. This round differs from all others because you’re not given multiple choice answers, so the team must buzz in within the average time it would take the app to recognize the song playing.
Additionally, in this round, you have to say the exact song title, or your answer will not be accepted. The first five songs in this round are worth $25,000 a piece, and then the fifth and sixth songs double your team’s bank.
Before the final song, Jamie Foxx asks the winning team if they want to stop the game and walk away with their current bank or keep going. If you’re able to beat Shazam, your team doubles its money with each correct song. However, if you do not beat the app, you lose half of your earnings. If you beat Shazam and name all six songs correctly, your winnings will be $1,000,000.
Auditions and applications are open, so don’t miss this opportunity! At the very least, even if you don’t win, you’ll still have a ton of fun and get to meet Jamie Foxx - what more could you ask for?
Beat Shazam uses the Billboard Hot 100 music chart as its only source for song titles.
